November 13th, 2017, Monday – King Center/Museum of Civil Rights

On the 11th day of our exchange with Marietta, GA, we went to the King Center and the Museum of Civil Rights in downtown Atlanta . In the King Center we saw how Martin Luther King, Jr. protested for equal rights of black and white people. We also saw how he was raised and which ideals he followed. We went to the Historic Ebenezer Baptist Church and the tomb of Mr. and Mrs. King.

In the Museum of Civil Rights we saw how women protested for their rights and the protest of Martin Luther King, Jr. against the discrimination of black people. We experienced how people where treated when they protested with non-violent  sit-ins  and demonstrations. There was also a room where we learned about current suppression of civil rights around the world.

Afterwards we went back to school and had free time with our hosts.
